Finished Collage Painting
5
Hurrah, my collage painting mentioned in this post is finished! I decided to leave the background as it was. The truth is the whole painting was taking up too much of my time. I wanted to do garden work and also play in my art journal again. Lesson learned: no more LARGE projects.
In February I started with 9 sheets of collage material made by family and friends. See pictures below.

As you can see they also made doodled hands. I did not use much of them in my collage painting, but didn't want to waste the beautiful hands they made. So I bought a white plastic heart around Valentine's Day. I painted the frame, which was not easy on plastic. I cut all the hands into pieces and used them in the different frames. I added some hearts and it became a kite. I like it.

I have one last photo I want to show you: the end result in our living room. They certainly bring color!

Thanks for stopping by!

To celebrate this 50th birthday painting I am linking to Art Journal Everyday (because this painting started as an art journal page) and to Paint Party Friday. Both nice websites to see great artwork!

I think it's terrific you finished a large project! You're right in that it's not for everyone all the time, but I think a large project once in a while is very good for skill building. :) The colors and shapes in the collage painting are great!
