Here is another collage painting. This time I have not been using paper, I have used Willow catkins. I struggled a bit with the height of the catkins, so the whole painting looks more like an abstract sheep. The close-up photo to the right shows the bristles of a scrubbing brush I used for eyelashes. It was fun to make this painting, but it took a lot of time to glue all Willow catkins down. Thanks for stopping

It has been a few months since my last post, but I HAVE been busy. The fact is I still like making art the most, so this blog gets neglected. As a consequence I decided to quit this blog in August. I opened an Instagram account and found out that Instagram is a quicker way to post my art. One of the paintings I have been working on is this donkey. The background and beam in the front are all collaged with different kinds of paper, e.g. old maps, Citrasolv papers and Brasso papers. The donkey has been painted with acrylic paint. I think I am in my collage phase right now. I...

This very local (the area is called Heemskerkerduin) Art Route was held last 13th September and I am still recuperating. Wow, what an event! The number of visitors was overwhelming. My heart is filled with joy because of all the positive comments my paintings and Art Journal pages were given. It was my first time participating and a lot of work was involved. In our workshop, when celebrating family events, we normally use curtains, but curtains are no good for hanging paintings! So my husband and our son Robin made wooden pannels and special shelves. Pictures below show the...

Hurrah, my collage painting mentioned in this post is finished! I decided to leave the background as it was. The truth is the whole painting was taking up too much of my time. I wanted to do garden work and also play in my art journal again. Lesson learned: no more LARGE projects. In February I started with 9 sheets of collage material made by family and friends. See pictures below. As you can see they also made doodled hands. I did not use much of them in my collage painting, but didn't want to waste the beautiful hands they made. So I bought a white plastic heart around...

Onze dochter was in Venetië geweest.

We are rapidly approaching Christmas. Last year I made a large Christmas painting (1 mtr x 1 mtr) for my dear friends Karin and Jos. It is a mixed media painting, better said a mixed material painting. I used real Christmas lights for the big star, twigs from our walnut tree and straw for the stable, and wool for the sheep. (Click on the image to enlarge it) It took a long time to make it. Yet sometimes you just have to execute an idea, because you feel so inspired... I really enjoyed making this painting and are happy my friends like it

This week a post about a painting of my mother. I used a photo taken on the Greek island Zakynthos as reference. She is sitting in front of a palm tree with a cocktail in her hands. Oh, I really long for the Greek sun, especially when winter is on our doorstep. Together with my sister and my mother I had a wonderful Holiday on the island. We are planning to go to a sunny island again next

This painting was an attempt to bring spring inside the house. At the time we were living in America and in the beginning of April the ground was covered with snow AGAIN. I felt very depressed. I wanted Spring. So if Spring is not coming to you, you create it! The little card "Lente" means Spring in

Sometimes I get a request for a painting, which I always find challenging to do, because you are often restricted in choosing colours and design. The challenging part is to find a composition everybody is happy with. In this case they asked for an abstract figures painting. I came up with the idea to paint the figures as a family. They (as parents) in the middle and their son and daughter on either side. Later I incorporated their children’s initials (B & M) into the figures. (See picture below) In the end they were very happy with the painting and that makes every...
